Frequently asked questions and facts about cat litter.
What is the origin of cat litter?
Cat litter is mined from the surface, similar to brown coal. It is thermally processed (heated to 600 °C), packaged and transported to its destination. The most expensive part is the transportation.
What happens to the litter after use?
Litter contaminated with cat feces and stored in plastic bags ends up in landfills: every year there are four billion kilograms of it. This waste does not biodegrade. Thirty milliliters of cat urine is three times the amount of waste.

How should feces be disposed of?
The US Environmental Protection Agency recommends that solid feces from pets be disposed of without litter in the household waste. This waste is sent to wastewater treatment plants via the sewer system, where it is properly decontaminated. CatGenie complies with European standards.
Comparison of CatGenie and litter
Two cats consume and contaminate about 170 kg of cat litter in 12 heavy plastic boxes in one year. In contrast, two cats using CatGenie use six or seven containers of cleaning solution per year to wash out the recyclable, biodegradable, washable granules that resemble litter. Think of how much money you will save, how you will help your back and ultimately how you will protect nature.

CatGenie granules
CatGenie granules are made with a special mixture (polypropylene, silicate minerals, ECM additives) and unlike classic cat litter, the granules are biodegradable. So the used granules do not accumulate in landfills and do not burden the environment. In addition, they do not need to be changed, you just need to refill them.
